Therapeutic Massage:

After listening to your priorities for the session, we will utilize some problem solving skills in order to develop a plan of action for your treatment.  Many of the modalities that are listed below will be utilized in order to help with the your presenting condition for that day.  It is helpful for you to give us an update of any health concerns before we begin and feedback along the way so that we can work as a team to achieve some beneficial and lasting results. Therapeutic massage is essentially a compilation of the skills of your massage therapist used with your best interest in mind.

NeuroSoma is a very delicate, yet remarkably powerful fingertip massage technique that relaxes hard, overly-contracted muscle tissue by stimulating small feedback nerves located within muscle spindle sensory receptors. Unlike regular massage therapy, NeuroSoma specifically addresses hyper tonic muscle spasm, which is different than ordinary tension in that it is produced by a malfunction of the nervous system. With a precise and limited pressure, the NeuroSoma myotherapist stimulates specialized feedback nerves in muscle spindles.

This extremely sophisticated and effective fingertip stimulation corrects distorted nerve feedback to the cerebellum. The newly-functioning feedback loops are then able to inform the cerebellum of the contracted condition of the muscle, allowing the brain to correctly assess the contraction in which it has been holding the muscle, and consequently to relax the muscle. This cutting edge bodywork actually enables the body to heal itself. The NeuroSoma myotherapist stimulates these feedback nerve beds using a limited pressure not deep enough to activate the stretch-reflex mechanism, also originating in the muscle spindles.

Sports Massage:

Sports Massage uses different techniques such as compression, cross fiber friction and assisted stretching. The techniques are adapted for athlete’s needs before a competition or to restore the body after rigorous exercise. Sports massage will help to increase range of motion, work out restrictions in muscle tissue and increase circulation. Used during all phases of an athlete's training including pre and post event massage and recovery from an injury. An invaluable tool for any athlete or weekend warrior.

Lymphatic Drainage Therapy:

Lymph Drainage Therapy is a hands-on technique which activates and cleanses the human fluid system. When lymph circulation stagnates, fluids, proteins, cells and toxins accumulate and cellular functioning is compromised. Some benefits that may result from activating the and stimulating the lymph system are: reduction of swelling, detoxification of body, regeneration of tissue (including wrinkles, scars, burns, stretch marks), reduction in symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia, improvement of venous conditions, relief of chronic sinusitis, acne and allergies, deep relaxation to aid insomnia, stress, loss of vitality and loss of memory and relief of chronic pain.  Lymph Drainage Therapy is a very gentle technique that is extremely relaxing and can have profound detoxifying effects.

Pregnancy Massage:

If you are pregnant, it is important to tell your massage therapist in advance and please select this service to receive the most qualified therapist. Pregnancy Massage is specifically designed for the pregnant women to assist in the continuing changes of her body and performed by a trained pregnancy massage therapist. Special cushions are used to assist in the client's comfort and proper positioning during the session. Deep tissue can be performed in certain areas during the session or relaxing swedish as well.

Scar Tissue Release Therapy:

No matter how old or new your scar is, this type of therapy can help. Developed by Marjorie Brook, the Scar Tissue Release and Integrated Therapies method STRAIT, for short --- is a three-dimensional, fascial-release system that works to minimize scar-tissue development and the subsequent physiological restrictions. Adhered tissues are released and then realigned from their starting point, which is the visible scar, to their end point --- where the line of frozen fascia stops.

There are multiple reasons to choose scar-tissue release therapy. Some benefits are listed below.

Improves flexibility
Lessens the appearance of scars
Helps to relieve stress on the body from fascial tension
Reduces muscle spasms
Helps to prevent adhesions forming after injury or surgery
Promotes balance in the body
Helps maintain good posture
Improves athletic performance
Reduces the risk of muscle tears and strains
Improves the flow of oxygen and nutrients through the body
Helps regain and maintain a full range of joint movement
Stimulates lymph circulation
Reduces the possibility of long-term problems due to fascial adhesions

Accunect is a complete healing modality that restores the body's natural ability to heal itself on all levels (mind, body and spirit) by clearing the underlying sources of stress (such as memories, belief systems, and past traumas) that interfere with this natural healing process.

The system is based on the ancient wisdom of Chinese medicine as well as quantum physics and the latest research on the mind-body connection. It is completely safe and non-invasive and can be used in conjunction with any other healing modality.

Accunect is a simple, yet powerful, form of energy medicine that utilizes a Health Map to find the areas in the body and mind that are ready to shift to restore greater health and well-being. A gentle tapping technique is used to bring the body back into balance.

Myofascial Release Therapy:

Myofascial Release Therapy addresses the fascia, the tissue that surrounds and connects the muscles, bones and internal organs. Myofascial release treats the whole body and is aimed at releasing tension in the fascia as a means of restoring balance to the body and its systems.

Benefits: relief from chronic pain and physical tension, increase ROM, relief from muscle tightness in many areas including the neck, jaw and back, relief from the pain of acute injuries, including sports injuries, organs have more room in which to function, improved respiration, increase body awareness, more relaxed and natural movement, alignment of your physical structure with gravity, improved posture, enhanced mental clarity and emotional spontaneity.

Active Isolated Stretching:

Active isolating stretching or AIS helps to restore full joint movement, decrease tissue soreness and fatigue, increase tissue pliability and improve posture. Gentle stretching movements also invigorate the circulatory, respiratory and neuromuscular systems which help to alleviate many symptoms of stress. Maximize your athletic potential or reduce your postural tightness by learning and practicing AIS. Come prepared to engage your muscles with the assistance of the practitioner and please remember to wear comfortable and relaxed fitting clothing.

Hot Stone Massage:

Hot stone massage is popular in many spas for its deeply relaxing benefits. The use of hot stones in combination with swedish massage techniques can help to increase blood flow, increase range of motion, increase lymphatic flow, and, reduce signs of edema. It feels wonderfully decadent!!  Hot Stones is not recommended for pregnant women or people with uncontrolled high blood pressure.  Typically, a complete session lasts 75 minutes or longer and it is priced differently from a standard massage session.

Deep Tissue:

Working at the deeper layers of muscle and using more pressure than Swedish massage. Deep tissue is used to relieve chronic patterns of muscular tension by using slow strokes, direct pressure or cross-grain friction. We only go to the deeper levels when your superficial muscles are warmed up and able to accept the pressure needed to impact the deeper muscle layers.

Seated Massage:

If you only have a short break but need some targeted work on your back or shoulders, come in for a seated massage. You remain fully clothed and are seated in a comfortable massage chair so you can relax and return to work refreshed! Great for relieving stress and aggravating muscle tightness from too much time spent sitting in front of the computer!
